What a big Month for us!

Wow. First and foremost my little boy started crawling and standing and furniture surfing all at once! Second - I got my SLR!
I have spent the better part of the month redoing past photography assignments, to learn all the material again, with the new camera. It is so different and so wonderful. I love having control over my camera and pictures.

Today I started using my 50mm f/1.8 lens. I love it. I am in love with it! I love that it allows me to shoot wide open. These are the pictures I was dying to take.

Like I said I just started today with the prime lens, it takes some getting used to, and right off the bat, my shutter speed was set way too low for the lens, so after some experimenting I got some pretty nice results (nothing special and not for homework, just playing with the lens). Here are some of my shots with the new camera:

These were all taken with the 18-55mm lens that comes with the camera. I put some pictures taken with the 50mm next :)













Well the sizing is irritating! Blogger has never done that before, and I am too tired to fix it now.... Sorry about the different sizes!

Big Tax return + money left over after paying off bills = My DSLR! So completely excited I think I could scream! Wahoo!

Oh and I got my first final grade back. 86% :) Not the A+ I was hoping for, but it is a lot harder capturing what the professors are looking for without a DSLR. Hopefully in a few weeks I can start my next portfolio project with my new camera!

This in one third of the assignment I just turned in. The first part being the photo of the river with the red top building - That was for leading lines. The second was the closer up photo of the ducks on the pond with the waterfall in the bottom third of the picture, the ducks in the middle, and the trees and sky in the top for rule of thirds. This one of the flower was for circular geometric rhythm. Fingers crossed for anther good grade.
