Jackie and Brody {Waukesha, Grandview Park}

Aunt Jackie (Godmother) came in from Colorado to spend the day with her favorite nephew!
We had a great day full of fun, swings, Oreo bon bons, and .... registering for Jackie's Baby shower in June!

Survival Neccesities.

Have I mentioned that I am diabetic. Type 1. Diagnosed when I was about 19. These are my daily essentials for survival. I love my insulin pump. I love less needles. Makes me dislike the diabetes a little less.

Working with a prime lens.

Using an SLR is all new to me, so add this to the mix and well, let's just say, I delete more pictures than I keep (thank God for Digital).
Anyways, I was not used to shooting wide open, so on my first try I seriously needed to adjust my shutter speed - we were way too over exposed. (The fact that Brody started crawling this month, does not make getting good, non-blurry photos, of him easy to start with).

So I raised my shutter speed a lot.

But I forgot about the ISO. I had it up so high for my 18-55mm lens. So I lowered that as well. Finally a decent photo!

And last, my favorite photo of the day:

What a big Month for us!

Wow. First and foremost my little boy started crawling and standing and furniture surfing all at once! Second - I got my SLR!
I have spent the better part of the month redoing past photography assignments, to learn all the material again, with the new camera. It is so different and so wonderful. I love having control over my camera and pictures.

Today I started using my 50mm f/1.8 lens. I love it. I am in love with it! I love that it allows me to shoot wide open. These are the pictures I was dying to take.

Like I said I just started today with the prime lens, it takes some getting used to, and right off the bat, my shutter speed was set way too low for the lens, so after some experimenting I got some pretty nice results (nothing special and not for homework, just playing with the lens). Here are some of my shots with the new camera:

These were all taken with the 18-55mm lens that comes with the camera. I put some pictures taken with the 50mm next :)

Well the sizing is irritating! Blogger has never done that before, and I am too tired to fix it now.... Sorry about the different sizes!
